Growing Groceries: Fabulous Figs Made Easy!

Interested in adding some fig plants to your home garden?
Learn how to grow these fruits from University of Florida Extension in Hernando County and take home 3 Celeste fig starter plants at our next Growing Groceries Workshop. The workshop will be given live on Zoom at 10:00am on January 14, 2025 and you can pick up your plants from our office or the Master Gardener nursery on Saturday January 18. If you miss the live version of the class don’t worry, it will be recorded and everyone who registers will receive the link. There is a $20.00 charge for the class and attendance is limited to the first 45 people, but it’s simple:

• We will send you a link to the live workshop on Zoom before January 14.
• Tune in to the live workshop with all your questions on the 14th.
• If you can’t attend live, we’ll send you the link to the recording by the end of the day- watch as many times as you want.
• Stop by the Hernando County Master Gardener Nursery on Saturday January 18 between 8:30am and noon to pick up your 3 Celeste fig plants. The nursery is located at 19490 Oliver St., Brooksville, FL 34601
• As a bonus, we will be having our annual Arbor Day Celebration at the nursery at the same time!
UF/IFAS Extension Hernando County Florida Arbor Day Tree Workshop and free tree giveaway

On January 18, 2025, the UF/IFAS Extension Hernando Co. office will conduct its annual Florida Arbor Day Tree Workshop and free tree giveaway at the Master Gardener Nursery (19490 Oliver Street, Brooksville). If you would like a free tree, you need to register in advance on Eventbrite at Hernandotrees.eventbrite.com (there is a limit of 48 trees being given out for this event) and will have to attend a brief online class on how to properly plant and care for trees. The class will be live on Zoom January 13 at 10:00AM, but if you can’t attend live, we will send you a link to watch the recording at your convenience. We will send a link to the online session before the class.
Then just stop by our nursery on January 18 between 8:30 AM and noon to pick up your free three-gallon Bluejack oak tree, check out the specials at the nursery and visit the informational booths we will have!
Important- in order to receive a free tree, you must register on Eventbrite at Hernandotrees.eventbrite.com and there is just one tree per registration. Trees are limited and must be picked up at our nursery on January 18, 2025.
